Milk Carton Management™

Not everyone in an organization is effective - that's pretty obvious.

One of the fun ways I came up with gauge people's value to an organization is to play "where's waldo?"

This is clearly highly subjective but still good fun.

To play, simply imagine that, everyday around, oh say lunch time, the occupant of a random office or cube simply vanishes in a puff of greasy black smoke.

The question then becomes: what is/was the impact to the team, department, company?

Imagine long term losses vs. short term losses.

Obviously, your evaluation is reflective of your own values and role. For example, if you are a programmer in engineering-centric company, having the VP of Marketing go missing may seem like a fine idea.
